Interesting system. Even tho the disks are physically single sided, 40 tracks, 10 sectors/track, 512 bytes/sector, they seem to be handled at software level as 50 tracks, 8 sectors/track, 512 bytes/sector.

Example working Cpmtools diskdef-parameters:

We've been able to pull files out of the image using a definition based on the physical geometry you describe above:

  boottrk 1
  os 2.2
end
but the first 0C00H bytes of the image need to be chopped off the image created by (the patched) Samdisk from the preservation streams. Some discussion has been taking place here:

Well in that case you needed to alter the image. With the "software scheme" (on some platforms and especially with hard drives this behavior is reality) the image stays intact and is accessible as is.
