Re: Complete Newb has questions..
JU-475 sounds like Panasonic which is one of the preferred drive models.
Re: Complete Newb has questions..
I believe it _is_ a Panasonic ...and is the one I'm attempting to renovate first ..
wish me luck..

Re: Complete Newb has questions..
Stripped down the Panny drive ..
cleaned the heads ..
freed the head sled rails..
Silicon sprayed the Stepper motor bearing and sled rails ..
plus cleaned the pcb ..and FDD contact strip..
Loosly reassembled to calibrate and test..
and here is the result..
I guess this will be the drive I choose to use..

Re: Complete Newb has questions..
Is this with the default settings or did you add the +2 offset this time?
Re: Complete Newb has questions..

so I assume I have a good drive ?

Re: Complete Newb has questions..
Looks better than the first Teac, which might be the one being out of alignment.
Scatter and histogram should still work tho.

Re: Complete Newb has questions..
Congrats! You may get rid of the last red box with toggeling the density switch gain...

Re: Complete Newb has questions..
Significant progress being made with the case construction.
Mounted the Kryo board ..and the Panasonic Drive ..but oh oh ..needed a longer lead to reach a 3.5" floppy and less ribbon needed to connect the Panasonic ...so moved the edge connector IDC closer to the Kryo pcb end of the ribbon and reversed it on the cable ..
So ..effectively the 5.25" Panny is now the 'B' drive ..
not that that is significant atm on account I am still set to single drive use..
I hope the pix explain better..
ran another test dump of the same C64 floppy ...and it appears to be working as before..
