Problem with Amiga 5.25"

Post by Icon » Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:51 pm

Hi!
When i try to dump a 5.25" AMIGA DOS-floppy I get strange results. I have a "flippy-modded" 1.2mb drive and use this commandline:

Code: Select all

dtc -p -f"game" -a8 -b8 -i0 -f"game.adf" -i5 -dd1
or

Code: Select all

dtc -p -f"game" -a8 -b8 -i0 -f"game.adf" -i5
The .adf-files should be 880K but they end up being 902K.
Some of them will show filetree and load some of the files, some simply end up corrupted.
Anyone have any ideas?
Regards, Mike - The Preservers

Could be many reasons:
1, The flippy parameters are incorrect; they depend on what kind of flippy modded drive it is to reach the physical track 0.
2, It is possible that tracks from 80 are actually formatted and that would always add the extra data found to the image (unless prevented by user parameters)
3, The drive cannot go above track 80 and re-reads the same track over and over and finds it formatted hence generates sector data for the repeating last track

Can you post the log generated for the entire disk please?

Some of the early "superdisk" (not to be mixed up with "sparedisk") formatted floppies apear as 902k images when dumped. They simply used 2 aditional tracks for more space (11k x 82 = 902k instead of 11k x 80 = 880k) those days...

Indeed, but better find out if that's the case. If it's an error like case 3 above, we'll see repeating track numbers in the log.
