Just checked out the web store, and have a quick question. The store says it won't read normal (non-flippy,) double sided disks. wouldn't this work just fine if both tracks were set at +8 alignment (-a8 -b8 on the command line?)

It does indeed work that way, although I recall that due to the differences on the stepper motors, some drives might not be able to reach all 84 tracks then. Tho you can read all the regular tracks.
