IBM 4869 - Kryoflux Edition

Post by Yushatak » Fri Jul 04, 2014 5:02 pm

I've purchased an IBM 4869 that I intend to mount my Epson SD-880 (dual 3.5"/5.25" combo) and my Kryoflux in - it hasn't arrived yet, but I'm excited and will be posting here showing the enclosure before, during, and after its adaptation - unless for some reason I find it isn't big enough/etc. (it should be fine).

For comparison, here's what's going on right now, lol:

Alright - it got here a few days ago and I got it all in place. Here are some in-progress pics:

Swapped the drive and cable, bit of metal between drive and PSU removed.

Everything tucked away nicely - unfortunately still a bit tall as you can see in the next picture.. Like the lazy trick I used to insulate the board without mounting it "properly"? I've used it on other things before, one of my favorites.. :D

Doesn't quite sit flush, but being the lazy person I am, this is good enough - probably could have done it better if I angled the Kryoflux and insulated it another way, but this was easier and I had no alternative mounting method at the time.
