Does the Kryoflux support Abc80/800 disks?.

Swedish Z80 computer which I assume uses a custom format.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_80
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_800

Theres only one single app that is able to dump these disks and it's like over 20 years old and runs in raw DOS http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... =&ie=UTF-8 i've had very little success with it , only managed to dump 4 disks with it.

Heres a library of files for it if anyone wants to see what kind of system it uses http://www.devili.iki.fi/pub/Luxor/soft ... ben/abc80/ the emu MESS supports both ABC80 and ABC800.

We would need to see a stream dump of one of these disks to say something about it. Any chance there's someone with a KF around that could do this?

Once a few disks get dumped to stream files we'll see what they contain.
So far nobody has submitted any disks for this platform, but anything can be supported of course since the data processing is all in software.

Don't have a Kryoflux, but:

ABC80/800 floppy disks come in a few formats; the "standard" ones are
SSSD (80K), SSDD (160K), and DSQD (640K), with some third party drives
being DSDD (320K). The basic formatting parameters are:

Format Encoding Sector size Sectors/track Tracks
SSSD FM(?) 256 bytes 8 40
SSDD MFM 256 bytes 16 40
DSDD MFM 256 bytes 16 40 x2
DSQD MFM 256 bytes 16 80 x2
8" ? ? ? 77 x?

I am not fully sure how the sectors were numbered on the disks: they can
be read on a PC with the standard Linux floppy device driver by entering
appropriate parameters, but at least the SSDD disks that I happen to
have come out interleaved. This might mean there is interleaving on the
disks that the Linux device driver ignores, or it might mean that the
interleaving was done in software (firmware, actually, as the controller
had its own CPU.)

Filesystem details are another matter; they vary slightly depending on
ROM version (much to users' annoyance), but I can get you the basic
information if that matters as well.

Thanks, for the heads up.
Based on your description if the system is using a generic controller compatible standard FM or MFM encoding it is already readable by the host software as is, just by setting the correct parameters.
If not, it could be supported.

Once/if we get stream dumps submitted for this platform we'll know for sure, but so far looks like it is already supported.
The 77 track format is likely to be the one used by DEC RX01/IBM 3740 compatible.
That is supported by the latest KryoFlux host software as well.

This is how much I managed to dig up on the 8" format:

77 tracks, 2 sides, 26 sectors/track, 256 bytes/sector; 500 kbps. The physical mechanisms supposedly were BASF 6104 or BASF 6115.

Hi!

I know this is an old thread, but I'd like to let you know that I'm imaging ABC80 and ABC802 disks with Kryoflux.

How do I send you the stream files?

Regards,
Rob

Thanks!

I've finished imaging half of the disks, I'll contact MrVince when I've done everything.
