KryoFlux UI: Where are image profiles stored?

Post by anarchivist » Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:05 pm

I'm working on setting up a shared environment for our KryoFlux (under Windows 7 Enterprise), and I'd like to share the various image profiles I've added within the KryoFlux UI across multiple user accounts. However, I haven't been able to determine where the profiles are stored so I can copy them across to multiple accounts.

The settings are stored in the registry under this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\kryoflux\ui

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs generally is the place where Java does store information on windows platforms when the software uses its Preferences API. On Linux things are done in another way of course.

Thanks, Feltzkrone. Is there a way in which I can export or easily propagate these settings across all users? Would it work to stick this in the appropriate key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE?

You should be able to right-click the com/kryoflux key, and then use "export" from the menu. This should give you a .reg file to take to the other machines (you can double-click it to import it into their registry).

Would the devs be amenable to a mechanism to allow the import or export of profiles, or a set thereof? As we refine our practices, we'd probably want to maintain a copy in another system, such as a version control system.

That is a good idea.

Okay, how about we keep the image profile data in a file in the user's home directory. You could then copy it where you need, or check it in to your VCS.

The data is XML, so should be easy to diff btw.

That sounds fantastic. Thanks! May I ask what the roadmap for the UI looks like?

Make it more comfortable, then perfect, then take over the world. :)

No, really; we have a bunch of ideas how to improve it, but if there's something on your mind, let us know.

Well, this would be one issue that I hope to see adopted. :) I was mostly curious about a timeframe for this to be incorporated.

We have a few things to tie up first, but will put it in after that. I shouldn't think it would take more than a couple of weeks. I'll post in this thread when it is available.

Longer term, yes we do have some exciting things planed, but it's early days. We'll certainly talk more about that stuff once things firm up a bit.
