5"25 floppies with 16 index holes
5"25 floppies with 16 index holes
I have bounced into some c64 warez floppies with interesting amount of index holes on the disk (just one on the sleeve)
On one label there reads: "16 Hard Sectors" So I guess this is the amount of index holes... Is there any way to read such floppies with kryoflux, I have several of these here waiting to be dumped.

Re: 5"25 floppies with 16 index holes
I think we are still trying to get hold of samples to support hard-sectored disks - unfortunately we've not managed to get hold of any yet. I would guess it probably wouldn't work without specific support.

Please dump some with
Dtc -ffilename -i0 -i2
and we will be happy to take a look.
Email or pm me for FTP access.

Re: 5"25 floppies with 16 index holes
The board thought that every hard-sector linked pulse was the end of a revolution, and as a result dumped only 5 sectors. Could you try dtc -ffilename -i0 -i5 -r85 ?
Incidentally, the log is interesting. 5760rpm is 360rpm*16, i.e. it sees every sector hole as a full revolution. When it says 7200rpm I guess it sees the real index hole (which is between two sector holes), even if I don't really explain the value.
OG.

Re: 5"25 floppies with 16 index holes
I think many people havent seen shis kind of disk before so I decided to scan example:

Indeed. Can we have one of these to finalise support in DTC?

Re: 5"25 floppies with 16 index holes
Hello,
I'm from Germandy an have a similar Floppy.
It's a Memorex 2s/2d Flexible disk (5"25)
The thing is, that it ha got 10 Hard Sectors.
It looks similar to the one on Grue's picture ( http://sid.fi/~grue/hard_sectored_disk.jpg ) but has only 10 holes.
I'm not shure which size and format it is.
Do you already have any progress in reading souch Disks?
Thanks a lot,
Michael
Edit:
It seems to be a disk for the Vintage 1980's 5.25 inch Floppy in an IBM PC 5150...
