Little problem with DOS 360kb disk in 360kb drive

Post by Ridrok »

Hello,

I have the following problem with 5.25" floppy DS/DD 360kb.
I use a Matsushita FMDD1650B4 (360kb, 300 RPM)

I use :

Code: Select all

dtc -fFile.img -v300 -i4 -s00 -e39
I have to set the end track or it tries to read 80 tracks.
But the result file is 720kb in size and the second half is full of 00 and I have to strip it.

I found no way to dump 360kb disk in 360kb drive without having to throw away the second half of the result file. -k2 makes it read only half tracks.

So if someone know the proper command, please tell.

Thanks

If you are using a 40track drive you have to add -oe39 to limit the output (-e39 only limits the input).

BTW: that issue was covered very often during the last months. Sometimes you get quicker answers by using the search function of this forum than starting a new topic. Searching for "360k" leads to the following thread which is less than 2 weeks old...

Thanks, I did not know the -oe parameter.
I did search and did not find the subject you linked which is the answer.
I found many threads talking about reading 360kb floppy with 1.2Mo drive with -k2 and -v300.
