Thanks again buddy..for all your help
you are very patient.
I guess my illogical brain misunderstood.
My reasoning which I guess isn't correct ..is that setting flippy mode would automatically set 'both sides' mode.
Even then I again wrongly assumed that unchecking sides mode ...setting both sides then reticking would have made my changes the default.
please forgive my stupidity.
I guess it's just the way my grey matter works.
Obviously not a perfect read ..but at least I am now getting both sides.
closer I guess

It should be good for normal C64 floppies. Protected original require different options depending on the title, such as V-Max! for Defender of the Crown.

Really pleased with this mod/build so far ..
I have just completed dumping of a 100+ double sided C64 disks.
Custom notched non genuine flippies.
At least 50 of which the content recovered to the point of being useable.
Including a lot of code I thouht I'd never see again ..from my days writing Vic20 C64 and C16 games..
I'd call that a success.
Anyone considering the flippy mod.
It is daunting and a bit confusing but very do-able even by a guy with MS and failing eyesight.
so dont be put off trying.

and many thanks for the modding vids on yutube...and a special thanks to ZrX for patience and help.

next project is a home brew 5.25" head cleaning disc ..
For this I intend to use an old floppy disk sleeve ..
Thin card ..
Silk surgical tape (non lint)
I'll use ISO on the silk tape ..and the drive closed ..and calibrate mode to get the heads to move over the tape.
fingers crossed ..
