Atleast from the command line it looks like the flippymodding was a success. Defender of the Crown original also requires different format switch -i19 instead of -i6 tho.

Also with Panasonic adding -dd1 to the commands might make a difference regarding read errors.

In the GUI behind settings you have to check Flippy Mode for the CBM formats now, and add the -dd1 on the Other Params -line if it does improve the results.

And check Advanced-page aswell that it says -8 for Side 1/B of your drive number.

Thanks ZrX ..
progress is slow but I think I will get there ..
I will try again withe 3.5" drive connected ...and see if I get the same result using the switches you supplied previously.
Physically it does look like the mods were a success which is heading in the right direction.
Your help is very much appreciated.
All new to me ..lol

So ..
having established the flippy mods are working for the most part.
I turned my attention to reversing the drive positions so that drive 0 is the 5.25" flippy and drive 1 was the 3.5" drive.
This required a new cable ...and of course pin 33 of drive 1 isolating.
Sadly still only reading 1 side of the defender disk in the GUI ..
and I simply dont understand why ?
the flippy option is ticked ..
You can see the options and result screen in the picture attached.
So close ..and yet so far.

Those settings should be good. Do the scatter and histogram displays show anything from side 1?

Can't try till later on account I'm currently away from the drives.
From memory No ..
and I never saw a read attempt at side 1.
It behaved as though reading a standard CBM disk...side 0 only.
Perhaps a DTC version issue ?

Hm, maybe uncheck Side Mode and set it to both sides...

Just checked the side mode..
both sides set by default.
So I guess it isn't that.
Just a suggestion ..
could you maybe try the same operation for me and if it works for you post DTC version and the settings you are using ?
big ask I know ..but I'm totally at a loss now.

As I said, UNcheck it and set it to both sides.
