grey boxes when dumping

It's been some time since I last used my Kryoflux, and I'm a little rusty on usage, and I'm using it for the first time with a new laptop that is running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. The floppy drive and the Kryfly controller configuration hasn't changed.

I've got the driver installed and Device Manager shows KryFlux DiskSystem, an internet connection doesn't seem to change that, so my internet is connected during dumps.
I've swapped out the DTC,EXE and CAPSImg.dll files for their 64-bit equivalents.
I can successfully calibrate the 5.25 and 3.5 drives that I have attached to the Kryoflux.

I can execute a dump with the GUI, and with DTC, to preservation and MFM formats:

Code: Select all

c:\bin\kryoflux_2.51_windows\dtc>dtc -fc:\bin\test111 -i0a -fc:\bin\test222.img -i4 -d1

But, the GUI always shows grey boxes, and the IMG file is always 0 bytes in length.

I have successfully dumped from this KryFlux unit and floppy drive on a Windows 8 laptop in the past, but as I said above, it's been a while and I don't recall all of the formats and settings.

My 5.25" disks are all marked DS/DD 48 TPI, and have date-markings from late 1980's and early 1990's. I'm reasonably confident that the disks were used on IBM PCs.

Am I just passing the wrong arguments to DTC? I can post the raw files if that helps.

Win10 needs admin privileges now to write to C: so try dumping to another drive/partition if possible!

I think my Windows 8 laptop may have been dumping to a D Drive, so that might explain it. I'll check dumps under Windows 10 to a USB drive when I get home.

Looks like the drive might be misaligned if the disks could be read earlier.
