What I have:
- I have my kryoflux and a Sony MPF920-E drive.
- I have a few hundred double-sided, double-density Atari ST disks
- I've been pulling disk content via the GUI, to image type 0 (stream files, preservation), then converting those to type 2 (CT Raw).
- I've been able to verify that things appear to run with the CT Raw images in Hatari 2.x, built with capsimage 5.x.
My problem: I've quickly realised that a disk might not rip 100% correctly first time around, but might work a second or third time. I've read a lot of stuff on using different types of drives, cleaning disks, etc, but I'm not sure how much is good advice, and how much is mythology!
My question: Before I go too deep, what 'best practices' do folks have for ripping disks and testing the contents? I'm particularly interested in Atari ST disks, if folks have Atari-specific tooling. Anybody got any pointers?
