Powering Kryoflux

Post by Dr_Lipp »

If I plug in a disk drive into the molex conector on the kryoflux (or the floppy power connector) and plug a power supply into they kryoflux, will that be enough to power the drive or should I buy an external power supply such as the one below:

Read the manual! There's text in bold red.

USB has 500mA max. for standard ports. Drives, especially older ones, draw up to 1A when powering up. Do the math. You're voiding your warranty and possibly also damage a USB port.

Gosh, I really don't think that was the question!

I think it clearly answers that powering a drive just through USB might both damage your USB port and / or the board.

And it's explained in the manual so yes you will _need_ an external power supply. Like the one we offer with the KryoFlux.
