KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!
Re: KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!
I've sent a new beta to MrVince, that should fix the issues with GnG and Mega Lo Mania, please test. Obviously, you need the right config (pal, 512k chip, 512 slow) to run GnG.

Holy cow... it does!
Beta testers of the world, you will soon get an email with a new version!

Got it!
I tested GnG with an ALPS-drive yesterday several times, it worked every time. With the new beta ist also works, but as I had no problems before I can see no changes so far. Unfortunately I don't have MegaLoMania as ipf, so I can't test that...
I found another game which does not work: Stunt Car Racer (#0222). This game does not work written with all my drives, even not with the new beta. Grey screen a few seconds after inserting the disk.

Then your ALPS has a pretty misaligned index detection. Anyway...

EDIT: You can toss it I guess. Just tested Stunt Car Racer, loads pretty well. Already enjoyed the Little Ramp in divison 4...

Re: KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!
Mega lo Mania now works. Nice work
Re: KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!
That's odd! I tested ALL my drives, no drive produced a working copy of Stunt Car Racer

Re: KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!
Stunt Car Racer must be written onto a DD disk.
It uses a very special protection that cannot be copied at all, only artificially generated - the protected signatures has "no flux transition" areas.
To generate such data you must use a DD disk.

Re: KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!
See the picture for a bitcell dump of the protection on Stunt Car Racer.
What you see there is in theory impossible; a very long sequence of bitcells with no flux reversal whatsoever. If you write such data, the drive will read back random garbage instead. Therefore, even if you copy the track with an analog copier, such as cyclone the protection check will always fail.
Needless to say the dump was made from a disk that I just wrote with DTC

Thanks for the hint, but I use DD disks all the time. I even opened a "new" 10 year old sealed box for thatIFW wrote:Stunt Car Racer must be written onto a DD disk.

And thanks for the explanation, now I see this game a hard case. But it should be possible to create a copy with one of my drives. Hmm. I try to clean the heads, maybe that helps...
