One-pass "flippy" disk support is here!
Re: One-pass "flippy" disk support is here!
Any news on Flippy Writing per chance?
Re: One-pass "flippy" disk support is here!
You can do that as long as side 1 is synced to side 0 index, e.g. some System 3 and Thalamus releases.
You can also write side 1 to side 0.
For any other case, future updates will make them possible.

Is that with -wy switch?IFW wrote:You can also write side 1 to side 0.

Depends on the target platform.
For flippy disks imaged in a single pass (ie with a flippy modded drive) you should use -y like you would for dumping.
For non-flippy disks, or flippy disks imaged in two passes use -wy. In case you are wondering which flippy platform has to be imaged in two passes: 3'' disks, where double sided drives are not available

Does this mean there's a hope of seeing support of writing side 0 to side 1 in the future as well?IFW wrote:You can do that as long as side 1 is synced to side 0 index, e.g. some System 3 and Thalamus releases.

Not really as it's not the same thing - but I'll keep it in mind just in case

Re: One-pass "flippy" disk support is here!
For some strange reason side 1 does not appear to contain any recognizable data when using PCE's conversion tools or when attempting to view track information using HxC's floppy emulator software, but DTC can create images just fine using the stream. And this is only an issue with one-pass flippy disks.
Is this maybe an issue with the process that was overlooked or should I just bring this up to the developer's of the software I mentioned?

I think the ball is in PCE's field...

To my understanding the stream of side 1 of a real fllippy disk must be prosessed in reverse mode. Maybe those decoders dont take care of this....
Re: One-pass "flippy" disk support is here!
That is exactly my assumption.
