KryoFlux Track Data Visualisation

Post by karadoc »

Over the last few months, aside from the work on writing support for KryoFlux, we have been working on providing more insight into disk data by means of data visualisation, since this is often helpful in identifying the cause of errors and provides useful information about the disk encoding.

Since this is a feature of the GUI, which runs on the Java Virtual Machine, this involved first porting the stream file decoding from the original C++ source to Scala, and then plotting that data using a specialised plotting component we developed.

Since we're nearly finished with it, with just a few more bugs to hunt down, and some testing required on a wider variety of disks. We thought now would be nice to give people a run down of the new features.

You can read more about it here, which has lots of nice screenshots!

Quite a lot has changed internally in next version of the UI, so before we post about it public, feel free to try it out and post back here with any problems. Any problems we'll sort out asap, and hopefully formally release this at the weekend.

Looks very good, thanks for the preview!
I have not very much time at the moment but the first experiments showed no problems so far :D
Just for fun: Here two example scatter plots from "green" Amiga dos tracks. And there are a lot more of such tracks. Looks not very healthy...

Thanks for implementing this feature! :D

I had thought it might be available only to Analyser software users.
