Hi all,
Ive got some really old Apple II floppies which I think will only last a one time dump so I'm wondering whats the best approach?
Im using currently:
dtc -fPolyWriter_ -i0 -fPolyWriter.img -i8a -l8 -t10 -d1
Cheers,
Rob
Best way to dump Apple II 5 1/4" floppies
Re: Best way to dump Apple II 5 1/4" floppies
Maybe clean the disks carefully and use blind dumping so bad tracks won't be retried, then redump the bad tracks later on.

When you say "blind dumping" do you mean locating the bad tracks by dumping all good track separately?

I mean not specifying the disk format, just stream files - and side if required.
DTC will then just record the data on the tracks without any kind of integrity checks - effectively recording the disk content "blindly".
This is of course not a good idea normally, as you want the bad tracks to be retried, but when you really think that the disk surface will fail, you may be better off saving whatever you can first, and hope you get a second chance for the rest...
