Amiga Game "Debut"

Post by Darksun777 » Fri Mar 23, 2018 10:56 pm

Hi there,

i have a question about the Amiga Game "Debut".

The game seems to be preserved in english version (SPS ID 2999).

Note: The Database on the SPS webpage has an error, the game could not be found when searching for "debut".
Searching for "Planet Simulations" brings this result:
2999 Début - Planet Simulation
Martin has dumped the german version of the game.
When i check the stream (raw) files with CTA, all tracks 0-79 shows AmigaDOS but it does not work when re-written to disk (with .IPF). After the game has loaded it shows "insert original disk a".

Tracks 80-83 shows "Recording noise - not recorded".

Is anything known about the copy protection of this game?

Thanks.

Yes, as far as I remember it had a pretty wicked protection... at least the one that was dumped.
Is the new version available?

Can't remember, but can take a look at the dump. CTA definitely has a format descriptor for the protection used though.
Please upload it to the SPS contributor FTP.

If you have that the IPX file it can be imported to CTA, and it will set each track description correctly, so you can take a look.
Note, that there is no guarantee that your version is the same as the release, so be careful.

So i was able to load the ipx and got a positive result, the game is running now.

The protection was on two tracks, there was set the following format:

AmigaDOS,FF-32_2 a145
AmigaDOS,FF-32_2 a144

Could you explain what this is? I would love to know more about this type of protection.

Thanks!

PS: Everytime when i import settings with a .IPX file i got a "crc missmatch" error - but the settings gets imported correctly. i dont know why.
