BLues Brothers TITUS

Post by gatesbillou » Sat Nov 11, 2017 8:24 pm

Hello,
Today I tryed to copy the game "blues brothers" from titus with kryoflux but copy don't work at all.
I tryed with Kryoflux_UI 1.7 and latest DTC (Kryoflux strem files , preservation).
I also tryed with command line directly.
Original keydisk is in very good condition and I tryed with two differents floppy drives (they works well).
I think it is a problem of "index" but don't know what to do to copy my floppy.
Here is one of my strem of first floppy (keydisk).
https://www.catupload.com/download/da85 ... ef9ec.html
If you could tell me how to make a perfect copy.
(Second question , it seems kryflux "watermark" , why ?)
Thanks.

It does look like the protection track has a sector that crosses the index. At present, the Kryoflux does not handle writing track data that crosses the index.

Text from the protected sector:
A001prot by Eric CAEN (c) Titus 1990...Hackers, I hate you !!!!
:P

As for why the Kryoflux writes a watermark, the KF designers treat the Kyroflux as a tool only meant for archival, not for duplication or interoperation.

Thank a lot for your answer.

He hated hackers , now he don't care I think ... ;) and I am not a Hacker I just want to copy my old original keydisk for preservation only ...

I will try with supercard pro
Just for info if someone need to study the software , just use CUP (The ultimate executables unpacker) , after that you can easily study the protection.
Bye

This disk can easily be written, e.g. with an IPF.

Finally got a chance to try and write the posted sample. It seems to run OK for me, so it must not depend on anything crossing the index or being perfectly lined up around there.

What kind of drive were you trying to run the program from? Keep in mind that disks written in 1.2mb floppy drives will not usually be readable in 360k floppy drives.

@Mr vince
Hello,
Yes , but I was thinking thas copying raw stream shoulded work here. Why "stream preservation mode " don't work here ? what kind of protection is it ? Does protection is on Track 3 side 0 ?
I can't make IPF myself... and you know when you send stream but don't know when you will receive IPF file it is why I would like to duplicate protected floppy myself .

@SomeGuy
Hello,
I have 1.2mb floppy drive and I used 360Ko floppy Double side &Double Density (formatted without error under DOS).
I Think Original floppy is also 360Ko 2S-2D. Everythink shoul work well..
I tryed Again with wildewutz 0.7 default configuration.
Thanks.

@gatesbillou

I also have Blues Brothers (Titus).
Copy protection area is on Track 39/1/1-10, 247 (Sector 247 : CRC-DATA)

It can be copied by TC or SCP perfectly. (with 1.2MB drive)

I think KF seems to be copied.
