I have imaged a previously-owned original disk, and I noticed that the boot sector has the Stoned virus in it. Yet the UI either displays the first track as having an error (because sector 10 of the protected 360K disk is funny) or as "B" if I limit the sector count to 9 in the MFM settings, which is labelled "Good* Sector number not within allowed range". Do the "error"/"B" conditions just prevent the "modified" status from being displayed, or was the disk really duplicated with the virus on it? Here is the stream file of track 0.
It is quite possible the disk was mastered with that on it. A while back there was mention on the Vintage Computing Forum of an original factory produced disk that had no write notch on it and yet had this same virus: http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum ... 17946.html
