Re: Cassablanca Classic floppies

Just checked Spicerack disk 1; looks like old-school PC protection, just on HD disk :)
However, the disk looks copied rather than duplicated...

Re: Some questions regarding Apple II flippy disk

1, Yes, that means both sides are read. 2, no, because the first 8 tracks (in 96 TPI) or 4 tracks (in 48 TPI) are missing from side 1. They are the data tracks at track -8, -6, -4, -2... that's why a modified drive is required for flippy disks - you should read tracks before track 0, which is simply...

Re: Problems with various Softwahre

Pretty much anything imaged with KF should work under emulation (at least in Vice), with a few known exceptions - one of those is Vampire's Empire which seems to have an emulation issue, or at least it had last time I tried; admittedly a few years ago ;) KF does not re-align tracks at all when writi...

Re: Writing back CT RAW images

There might be programs to do that, but CT Raw is an emulation specific format (to make it easy to use "blind dumps") and was not designed for writing.

Re: Writing back CT RAW images

In principle it's not safe to do that, since they are really just quantised stream dumps without any verification, but might work.

Re: Problems with various Softwahre

I think the original of Vampire's Empire is one of the few remaining games with non-working protection under emulation. As far as I remember the drive memory gets cleared and that gets executed, which unsurprisingly just crashes... unless it's another game I remembered :)

Re: New to KryoFlux, what can (and can't) it do?

Well, if you are absolutely certain that side 1 contains no data whatsoever - e.g. you actually worked on that game :) -, then of course you can just image side 0. When we (at SPS) archive any kind of disk, we never ever go for single sided dumps, as otherwise we'll never now 100% whether a game is ...
