Kryoflux to APD

Hello, So this is part of the output from the Java Kryoflux library mentioned in the other thread. It converts a kryoflux stream to APD (archimedes protected) which covers anything that can't be converted with dtc's mfm format. APD can be read by the arculator emulator and also by the ADFFS module t...

Re: All you always wanted to know about IPF

Dredging this topic up from the past. I'm just learning how this format is used to describe the discs. I've been looking through the IPF library source. Am I correct in my understanding that presently there is no default "FM" block image encoder and hence the Raw type would need to be used to encode...

Re: IBM DOS 5.25in NOVICE USER HELP REQUESTED

I suggested this before, I really don't understand why these standard settings for the IBM floppy types are not available as profiles in the GUI. As this topic and many others show, people have problems coming up with them on their own. I have a sneaking suspicion that the default MFM setting shoul...

Re: IBM DOS 5.25in NOVICE USER HELP REQUESTED

If you have a look now at the gui that came with the kryoflux, and the manual, you can set a variety of profiles. You just need to set one up for 360k PC format and another for 1.2MB, then it's just a question of selecting which type of disc it is, typing the name and pressing go. In all honesty it'...

Re: KryoFlux Java Library

[ PM sent. :) Edit: And I'd like to help you getting rid of ugly code as soon as possible, but currently I'm busy with quick insight and organizing a bunch dumps made on behalf someone else. I guess some class(es) dealing with bit-level data representation and operations would be helpful as a first...

Re: KryoFlux Java Library

Hello, This is progressing quite nicely (apart from the ugly code at the moment), but I've been having a bit of consternation with some tracks that are mixed MFM/FM and also FM. Would someone be able to take a quick look at the dump of a single track for me and double check that I'm correct when I t...

Re: IBM DOS 5.25in NOVICE USER HELP REQUESTED

First thing is to calibrate your drive: dtc -c2 The dumps are "image files" - think of them as a virtual disc, held in a single file. You can use winimage to access them and pull the files out with all the directory structures and filenames intact. http://www.winimage.com/ Then, if you just want to ...

Re: KryoFlux Java Library

Oh, indeed, absolutely understood, hence me not bugging and just getting on with it - it's not particularly fair to demand format x or y when it's clear that there's a plan that's being followed by people who are only doing something in their spare time. Everyone has their favourite thing they'd lik...

Re: KryoFlux Java Library

Hello, that's me :) There's a description of the APD format as I have it in the "APDWriter" class. APD was designed to capture all the information necessary to allow emulators to deal with protected ADFS discs on the archimedes/riscpc. In its original incarnation by Tom Walker APDs were generated us...

Bug in GUI on Mac?

Not entirely sure I'm not doing something stupid, but it doesn't seem to be possible to open an already existing raw stream in the gui - it won't allow you to open directories. Bit strange as it's fine under windows and java being java if it works under one it should be working under the other :? An...
