Re: DTC Scripting & IPF creation

Great news. Is it envisaged that FM and GCR encoding be supported?

Re: Support for larger sector sizes/2M images

I have just acquired (& dumped) some pristine, straight out of the shrink-wrap, PC-DOS 7 discs in this format (only the initial setup disc was in standard format). Is there interest in these being submitted to sps? (I only ask as they're not games).

Re: Further development of writing functionality

(Speaking as an independent individual with no vested interests) - truth told, there have been competing things but they've never gotten off the ground. DiscFerret springs to mind? Despite what you might think, this is pretty niche, and in x number of years no one else has come up with something tha...

Re: Further development of writing functionality

Having thought a bit more then, yes, the scripting is absolutely the most useful thing that could be implemented - it would be easy enough to write "format x image -> script" converters for simple sector images, or well described formats, which would give the result desired in option 2 as well as af...

Re: Further development of writing functionality

I'm torn, I'd love to be able to create MFM/FM images of sector dumps of arbitrary geometry, but I would like the flexibility of being able to script elements too - for example deliberately mixing FM/MFM sectors, dictating the CRCs to write, messing with sector numbers and the like. The former is ul...

Re: How to write ADF to disk

There was a long discussion about this over on stardot. With machines like the ST or BBC micro with a 1772 controller it is possible to crank up the clock frequency to make it play ball with HD discs in non-HD mode... Or something. Also discussion about why it's a bad idea to format HD as DD, and so...

Re: Salvaging one good IMG file from multiple partially bad

Remember that's 160 tracks - there are two sides - so you're really looking at 4608 bytes per track, which gives you the 9 512byte sectors you'd expect. The tracks are interleaved, so track 52, side 0 should be at offset 4608x52x2, track 54 side 1 would be (54x2x4608)+4608... I'm not a dd guru, I'd ...

Re: All you always wanted to know about IPF

:) Thanks. Does the automatic bitcell-size work on the basis of "here are all the bits for the track (splices/unusual latencies added in), at 300rpm this is the size they have to be to fit"? If, for example, I want a home-brew-non-archival-non-canonical ipf simply for the purposes of being able to w...
