Re: GUI & Linux support

That is really useful, thanks. We'll try and do that for each (at least major) release. Well, unless the kernel bug gets fixed and on most machines anyway. :)

Re: KryoFlux FAQ

That's right, if it's all green, it means your stream files are fine, because it means the data is good against the formats you picked. This is not really something I considered before, so I am glad you brought it up. I think the most difficult thing here is to decide how to represent that informati...

Re: GUI & Linux support

That is great, thanks very much for doing that. Does the package work on any Debian distro?

I have no experience packaging up deb's. Is it a simple command if I want to update it with a new DTC or UI JAR? I'm using Ubuntu.

Re: KryoFlux FAQ

Colours/errors will definitely be explained in a subsequent UI release. We had planned this, we just didn't fit that in for the Christmas release. :)

Re: KryoFlux FAQ

The UI certainly doesn't mark transfer errors as good. That track 68.1 was eventually read correctly, and DTC gave a result of "MFM: OK", which signals to the UI that it should be marked in green. The UI basically picks the best result output by DTC that was gained from reading a track and shows tha...

Re: KryoFlux FAQ

I assume that you have a sector image selected, so DTC can retry tracks it can see are bad, validating against that format (the UI shows the "best" result). This should still work for any "standard" disk, but the problem comes when you want to image a copy-protected or non-standard disk where you ca...

Re: KryoFlux GUI - How does it look?

Excellent. Thanks for the feedback. Giving more information - on reading, indicating things like weak bits and such on dumping requires analysation and some grunt work, and I am not sure we can easily do that, as we would have to do some analysis on the fly. We are planning to add density and timing...

Re: KryoFlux GUI - How does it look?

I am keen on having stuff turned stuff off that you don't need. The interface is intended to be suitable for non-technical librarians and archivists to use, so the "default" view should definitely be as simple as possible. Getting disk name sounds neat. If anyone wants to code that up for us (in Jav...
