Re: Imaging hard sector floppies

Interesting system. Even tho the disks are physically single sided, 40 tracks, 10 sectors/track, 512 bytes/sector, they seem to be handled at software level as 50 tracks, 8 sectors/track, 512 bytes/sector. Example working Cpmtools diskdef-parameters: diskdef exidy seclen 512 tracks 50 sectrk 8 block...

Re: Installing KryoFlux in Windows 8 / 10

These should be split into separate thread. But KF has no trouble sampling these kind of disks. 3.5" HD media is fine, but 3.5" ED media (these were not in very common use) uses such high frequency that it can't be sampled properly anymore. Since KF samples at the flux level headers, checksums and s...

Re: Drives confirmed working with KryoFlux

Old IBM 5,25" drive - Type 0386-001 - Can it work? A while ago I bought an old 5,25" drive for not too much money, aiming to try it on Kryoflux. It's supposed to be a standard 1.2mb drive but ... Since I haven't been able to locate it on the net anywhere, I can't be sure... Now, I have been trying ...

Re: 8" Disks encoding?

Can you upload the raw files of one dump to a sendspace or some similar place and post or PM the link so I can check if the format is the same or if I need to write some different decoding?

Re: Imaging hard sector floppies

Ok the disk is indeed a flippy.

IF your drive has been flippymodified you could dump without flipping the disk. But assuming it is not, flipping is luckily possible.

Re: Imaging hard sector floppies

You can upload them to a temporary place like sendspace.com for example and post the link here, or post it as a private message if the data is something sensitive.

Re: 8" Disks encoding?

Those 4 bands in the graph mean that encoding is very likely to be the somewhat rarely used MMFM/M2FM which DTC does not currently decode.

I've decoded few such dumps for another user with my own experimental tool successfully.

Re: Imaging hard sector floppies

Interesting. Would you mind sharing the raw files of one dump to look at?

Re: Imaging hard sector floppies

Should work just by selecting from the menu Drive > Stream Files, enter desired output filename, then select from the format list your custom format, click Start and open the directory containing the raw streamfiles.

If you did just that, then something in your format settings is incorrect.

Re: Imaging hard sector floppies

Sector count, size and few other parameters can only be defined for decoding image output formats -i3++, not for preservation stream -i(0).
