Re: Please add total report

If you want to stay with the command line version, here is how I do: 1. Use "tee" to log to console and additionally to a file (see here ) 2. Use "Notepad++" to search for suspicious tracks in log files using regular expressions and recursively for subdirectories ("Find in files") The regular expres...

Re: KFAnalyze - KryoFlux Stream Analyzer

It is not a secret, please have a look at http://www.softpres.org/kryoflux:stream for the documentation. If you have questions regarding particular things which you might find confusing or you can't find an answer in the docs, please don't hesitate to ask here.

Re: Stream files, G64 & flippy disks

In the GUI copy the profile "CBM GCR image", click on the copy (end of list) and name it "CBM GCR side 2" or something like this. Additionally select "Side 1" as Side Mode and ensure that "Flippy Mode" is selected. Using that profile you will be able to create a G64 file for the back side of a dump,...

Re: Detecting modified disks

The dumps look rather noisy. If you take a look at the scatter plot in the KryoFlux GUI for the dumped tracks, especially for those which are detected as being modified, you will see that there are areas in which some flux transitions cannot not be clearly associated with one of the bands (use the m...

Re: Universal Extensible Image Format

Then you can leave those fields empty. In some cases (for example dumping HDDs) that is an important value. With that many optional values which would occupy space even if not used, you should move all metadata to XML. With XSD you are able to continously do backward compatible extensions or improv...

Re: Tape support (MSX, Spectravideo, C64, Vic-20 ...)

TAP files just contain the raw pulse lengths of the waveform (crossing zero from above to below), which makes them comparable the STREAM data produced by the KryoFlux device, which contain raw timings (flux transitions in this case), too. FinalTAP and TapClean read those raw pulse lengths, perform i...

Re: Universal Extensible Image Format

To be honest, I dislike your specification for the following reasons: no mentioning of endianness fixed-length fields, e.g. only 64 UTF-8 bytes for name of the disk, in my opinion this is an outdated form of storing metadata pointless fields like "manufacturer and model of the drive used to dump the...

Re: Diagnosing mass failure

Some ideas: 1. Doesn't this look pretty noisy (the area below 4 us), like a dirty read head or dirty disk? 2. Or might this be GCR but the drive is not capable of handling bit cells as large as 15 us (or band missing because 001-sequences not present on track 1)? 3. Has anyone ever heard of a 5 us b...

Logging DTC screen output in Windows

To get a log file without using the GUI I recommend a Windows version of "tee" known from Linux, which will save standard out (text that appears on the console) additionally to a file. Get wtee.exe here: http://code.google.com/p/wintee/downloads/list Place wtee.exe in some directory which is in the ...

Re: questions about flux stream to g64

Chances are high that track 34.0 (or track 18 in CBM DOS numbering), which contains the directory, is damaged and therefore a file not found error occurs in emulation. Or does VICE fail to open the G64 file?
