Re: Writing dumps, how to increase stability?

Do you write the stream files directly or do you use G64 files with mastering info as the source?

That's of course also sufficient to just take a look. Was your first submission SQ1 for IBM-PC? I'll reply to that later or at the weekend. :-)

Re: Back with a new problem. Write protected 5.25'' disk completely modified except last couple tracks.

It's a bit strange that 1.0 d2 is working when t0s0 is replaced. It's perfectly possible that a DOS installer accesses the disk directly and fully circumvents the FAT filesystem by doing so, but in that case it would be also strange that there are filesystem structures present in sectors other than ...

Re: Preserving Atari 8-bit disks

I'm almost sure that it's a problem with the drive. To be more precise: With the alignment of the drive. To me it looks like data of adjacent tracks is bleeding into each other in particular areas. A small percentage of sectors are still intact in the dump but taking into account that you have also ...

Re: Preserving Atari 8-bit disks

Could you upload RAW files for one of the disks at a one-click hoster? We could take a look then. Please do also include the command line used to dump and a log file if possible (see http://forum.kryoflux.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=458&p=4280&hilit=tee#p4280 if you're using Windows and want to print pr...

Re: Validate my C64 disks?

You can create sector images for certain custom formats like Vorpal or V-MAX!, see http://www.kryoflux.com/?page=kf_formats for details. Those sector images are comparable to D64 in that they hold just the real decoded payload data, no gaps, no syncs or anything else. And as such they are binary-com...

Re: Please use: info files / dump scripts when submitting dumps

I have just sent you an email with FTP details in case you don't know them yet. The preferred folder structure is /DUMPS/<system>/<nickname>/<yyyy-mm-dd>. Folders starting from <nickname> can be created by yourself. The last directory should match the current date / date of upload. All we need to kn...

Re: Bad Sector dumping AmigaDOS disk with KF but not when copying with X-Copy?

I think that it's bit rot of rather low degree ("only" 6 bits affected but still these might render the whole game useless) and the coincidence that the affected sector could -in theory- still be read ok using a DD drive - or X-Copy is really cheating here.

Re: Bad Sector dumping AmigaDOS disk with KF but not when copying with X-Copy?

There is noise on the third sector of 6 MFM bits width. The recorded flux timings are about 3.5, 2.6, 2.7 and 3.4 µs (hex 52 40 42 50). When manually changed to 8.8 and 3.4 µs (very unusual combination as flux reversals repell each other) the stored checksum matches the one calculated during decodin...

Can you upload that track (.raw) somewhere so one can take a look? Thanks. :)
