Re: Hawkeye c64 strangeness

Track 35 sector 0 contains the directory for the loader, each entry is four bytes long, the last two bytes of each entry are the starting track and sector. The Data Duplication tracks on one of your copies might be leftovers, it might be a recycled disk. I couldn't find anything which indicates a co...

Re: 360rpm or not

Hi Kubi, as for the 300/360 thing: The rpm of a drive matters to original hardware i.e. keyboards, snythesizers, computers, as they generally expect either 300 or 360 rpm and won't be able to successfully read data using a drive which doesn't meet that expectation. KryoFlux works differently, it cap...

Re: Issues producing images of old IBM PC 5.25" disks

It's a DOS 1.x disk, single sided, 40 tracks, 8 sectors per track, 160 kb. It does neither provide a media descriptor byte nor a BIOS Parameter Block. Therefore most software will have a hard time or completely fail at detecting the geometry of those sector images. If you don't mind using Wine you c...

Re: Same ticket for new dumps?

First of all thanks for contributing the dumps. Please be assured that as long as you stay consistent with your nickname and you just want to submit dumps we don't need any notification about it and will still keep track about who has submitted which dumps. The place where the dumps are submitted to...

Third-party upgrades for the 1050 (all add a true SSDD 180K capability) ... can be found here and one of those has probably been used: http://www.atarimania.com/faq-atari-400-800-xl-xe-what-are-the-atari-810-815-1050-and-xf551-disk-drives_22.html Image settings for command line usage: -g0 -z1 -v288...

Re: Log all DTC output to a file

It's not very difficult to get and use wintee either. ;-)

There's also an alternative - UnxUtils - which includes a tee.exe: http://sourceforge.net/projects/unxutils/

Re: Timeout while waiting for device initialization

Obiously using the GUI, so here some advice: In "Settings" -> "Image Profiles" of the GUI setting "Track Distance" to "80 Tracks" (untick "Default" first) is the same as using "-k1". In "Settings" -> "Advanced" set "Max Track, Drive 0" to "41" (also untick "Default" here) which is "-e41". Leave "Oth...

Re: Better control section in GUI

I think he means profiles for standard IBM PC formats like 3.5" DD/HD (720/1440 KB) and 5.25" DD/HD (360/1200 KB). How about offering some "add profiles from internet" functionality for cases like these? The following list could be used as a source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_floppy_disk_f...

Re: Writing dumps, how to increase stability?

István has been quicker but nevertheless... that's what I would have suggested: Just to be sure: 1) Verification in DTC really says that it's ok? 2) Resulting disks which are not working properly in 1541 drives remain fully readable with DTC? 3) G64 files of re-read disks still work fine in VICE? It...
