Re: Is this suitable for flippy modding ?

Just placed my order .. It is coming from Kazakhstan ..so hopefully it survives without incident. "Panasonic JU-475-5AK0 5.25" Vintage Floppy Disk Drive + Cable FDD Tested" I guess £40 isn't too overpriced since £15 of that is postage. Just hope my modding skills are up to the job. I have a dremel a...

Re: Commodore 8050

One of the Disks I -need- preserving is my copy of 8050 DEMO ..which has some disk utilities on it .. Not convinced the disk is 100% ..but I did manage to copy a program off it onto a new/oldstock floppy freshly formatted. 'Check Disk Program' It is currently running and checking itself .. ..a painf...

Re: Commodore 8050

Thanks for replying.. I guess the mental picture I have in my head of more tracks on the disk ..closer together ..and a head passing over that is too wide is correct then .. The head of a standard 5.25" drive possibly reading more than one track at once..or at least a track and a bit ? hmm .. I gues...

Re: Commodore 8050

is it possible I might get some help ..re dumping disks made on my 8050 PET dual drive ? I only have a couple ..one of which has some games on it .. about a twenty in total .. As you can see from the attached photo ..the directory structure is intact ..and the games likely to have survived. I'd like...

Re: What am I doing wrong ?

Many thanks ..I found the density option in the drive select menu as you suggested ..but not on the parameter options screen. Which to my thinking is odd ..as you cannot set it to automatically untick (low) = high when creating a new profile. Nonetheless ..I appreciate your help ..and yes it reads t...

Re: What am I doing wrong ?

Pardon my ignorance ..but how to you set the density in the dtc gui ..?
I see no option for TTL logic level or Hi Lo density ..
Possibly this is manually entered in the 'Other Params' window ...below the tick options ?
but if so ..I have no idea of syntax..

Re: What am I doing wrong ?

Well to be honest I didn't specify anything other that Format A: /s from DOS .. and the floppy is as I said DS/HD ...and the result is readable from DOS or win98 .. So yes ..it is possible that what I wrote to the disk in the PC was garbage.. I didn't know about the 5.25" disks requiring more info ....

What am I doing wrong ?

Shortly after I completed my dual drive 3.5 & 5.25 inch kryo unit ..I had an MS relapse so not been well enough to experiment with it. I'm now feeling a bit better and wanting to press on .. I successfully read some PC dos game disks ..but these were like new .. I figured it time to try and get to g...
