Re: Is this suitable for flippy modding ?

Time to start on the main drive chassis I guess ..
The head assembly mods are done ..but still have cleaning to do.
..and yes the head assembly slides smoothly on the rail.

Re: Is this suitable for flippy modding ?

Ok ..Job done.. though I had to substitute a small section of steel tubing for the helical spring .. more force was needed ..and sadly the spring started spreading (diameter increased) ..as the nut was tightened.. swapped for the tube (similar dimensions) ..and the bronze bush started moving .. to i...

Re: Is this suitable for flippy modding ?

So ..my drive arrived ..but I suspect my version is a little older than the one in the youtube SPS vids. I have to unsolder 3 sets of wires ..to remove the pcb .. Sadly not all have plugs .. on the plus side there are indications on the pcb indicating colour codes for the wires. I've not yet broke o...

Re: Is this suitable for flippy modding ?

Obviously I dont know specifics ..but I have used an AppleII alignment Disk before ..but this was only rotation speed adjustment .. I assume right or wrong ..that once the first track/sector (zero) was identified all other would naturally be aligned.. or possibly aim for a mid track as with the C64 ...

Re: Is this suitable for flippy modding ?

Just be carful with the alignment. Getting it right without an analogue alignment disk can be a nightmare. Is it possible to perhaps get an image of an alignment disk I could create prior to modding ,on my currently fitted Panny Drive ?...just in case.. always good to be prepared. Perhaps you or an...

Re: Dumping Apple floppies ?

Well ..
all I can do for now is wait until the drive I ordered arrives ..which hopefully I can mod as a flippy.
Then maybe I can dump these disks correctly.
we shall see.

Dumping Apple floppies ?

Finally decided to tackle my 30 or so Apple Floppies. These are either genuine originals or made on or for Apple I or II .. I have no idea what settings to use here .. The DOS used is likely to be 3.2 but really I have no idea ..just guessing .. So what format to dump in .? again no idea . Is there ...

Head cleaning ..

Looking for some advice here.. So far I've dumped around 100+ C64 disks ..but only the A sides.. Hopefully I will have a flippy soon. That said I recently noticed the scatter getting somewhat 'less' density wise. I figured the heads might well need cleaning again.. I did this prior to installing the...
