Re: Best way to backup Amiga floppies

Even back in the old days I had the feeling that HD disks are more likely to generate errors when written & read with DD floppy drives (on real Amigas) than DD disks (unless you had an A4000 with HD floppy drive). People are still selling(!) DD disks all over the place, but I'd better not buy nor us...

Re: Best way to backup Amiga floppies

Can 3,5" DD drives also write back KF stream tracks onto DD disks no matter whether they've been imaged with an HD or DD drive?

Stream backup quality of 3,5" drives

Is it in any way possible to determine which floppy drives are providing the best streaming backup quality from Amiga DD disks? I have several drives and would like to find out which are "good ones" for backup and also for successful restore (probably later). HD: ALPS DF 354H1 68F (max=83) Mitsumi D...

Re: Best way to backup Amiga floppies

Backup and restore with Alps DF354 H168F (similar to another ALPS drive, only with silver front panel) or Mitsumi D359M3 - both are IBM HD floppy drives. For restoring the images I used mint Sony DD floppies. And everything on 3,5" of course. ;)

Re: Best way to backup Amiga floppies

Thank you for the good explanation. In the meantime I've dumped several protected Amiga NDOS disks with different floppy drives and only recently I started to write stream files back to disk to see whether they'd run on a real Amiga - and they did. :) I used the following command: dtc -fGemX/track -...

Re: Question marks

Yes, the timings are all a little bit "off" (too low) and on the other hand the rpm of 301 is a bit too high (shouldn't that be 300?) - maybe one leads to the other because the drive spins too fast so the timings are measured too fast as well? So in my case where *all* timings tend to be a little of...

Re: Problem with stream format on OSX

What can I say? You are THE man!

I went on to try
dtc -l62 -fFA18Interceptor -i0 -fFA18Interceptor.adf -i5
and it works like a charm!

This is awesome! :) Thank you very much.

Re: Problem with stream format on OSX

Thank you! At least I can dump all stream files on the old iMac with 2.20 and write them later back to disk on my MBP with 2.51?

Is there any difference when dumping disks with 2.20 compared to 2.51?
