I think my Windows 8 laptop may have been dumping to a D Drive, so that might explain it. I'll check dumps under Windows 10 to a USB drive when I get home.

Confirmed working with a 5.25" 1.2M DOS Disk

YE-DATA YD-380C 1711C (84 tracks, beige facade, enclosed, pin 1 at right-side when looking at rear.)

NEC FD1155C (83 tracks, black facade, non-enclosed, pin 1 at left-side when looking at rear)

Hmmm, I solved my own problem. I just tried the DTC utility directly, and followed the switches for a 1200K DOS disk (from the KF manual): dtc -f<dumpdir/dumpfile> -i0 -f<dumpdir/dumpfile>.img -v360 -i4 That seemed to produce a valid MFM image, so I'm guessing the -v360 was the magic ingredient - se...
