for me, a 360kb/40 tracks dump is made with a 300RPM drive, a 12xxkb/84 tracks dump is made with a 360RPM. So what are we really talking about ? the only way to avoid all this mess is to clean up the disk. Most of the time, errors happens due to mould (something it's not even eye visible !).

my personal thought : the floppies used are too old, and as such, they don't keep what you wrote correctly.

The next step will be to use gotek or any other drive not needing floppies in the near future.
