Re: IBM XDF supported?

It has indeed, thank you very much!

I will at a later date upload to SPS everything I have dumped for you to verify and archive as well (including those XDF dumps), should be a few hundred titles I've dumped so far with many more to come.

Re: IBM XDF supported?

1, Source code and/or documentation is available for stream, IPF, CT Raw - all the native formats that is supported by the host software. All the archival formats used being open and free does not really qualify as proprietary imho... the encoding naturally is, which is not a big surprise given oth...

Re: IBM XDF supported?

Maybe this is just something where more work is required? We just can't work on everything at the same time. But anyone willing to contribute and write eg and external converter or filter (or an add-on for Keir Fraser's disk tools - which can export IPF) is really welcome. I greatly respect the wor...

Re: IBM XDF supported?

Thanks for the reply. I wonder though, how does IBM then make images? If IBM can make proper images that can be written back onto floppy, then how come the KF can't do the reverse? And as long as there's no tool to convert the stream to an IPF, or some library or tool to "mount" a KF stream it's poi...

IBM XDF supported?

I was reading a topic about IBM XDF here but didn't understand really if KryoFlux supported the IBM XDF format... I have a bunch of IBM OS/2 Warp 3.0 floppies I want to archive, can it be done with the KF properly, even if it's just saved to the stream format? When trying to get an IMG out of the st...

Re: Please use: info files / dump scripts when submitting du

Is it absolutely critical that the dump scripts are to be used before a release submit to the SPS team? I have a large set of dumped floppies already (dumped using a KF with the preservation profile) but they are named differently than what the script generates, and it would be a gigantic job of re-...

Re: info needed on 5 1/4" dumping

In this case it actually seems like the floppies are damaged... I've dumped them nonetheless and submitted them to SPS for analyzing, perhaps it can be fixed somehow. It's too bad we don't get access to the tools so we can analyze and fix it outselves, but I guess you have your reasons to keep both ...

Re: info needed on 5 1/4" dumping

I tried these options myself but all I get is MFM <error> and Bad sector found errors. I had the exact same issues as the author here, except that the solution didn't work very well for me. I've had tons of issues dumping 5.25" floppies and I have no idea what is wrong. I am currently using the dodu...

Re: KryoFlux and Apple 400/800K floppies

Yeah well my primary aim is of course preservation, and in this case, even if Apple has the images themselves I still want a physical dump from the physical disks, all for preservation. And there still might be differences in revisions, dates etc that differs physical dumps from the images Apple pro...

Re: KryoFlux and Apple 400/800K floppies

Unfortunately not. I have not seen a DD drive since my old 8088 system... and these are rare today.
