Re: Save 5.25" (MS)-DOS 360k disks

That a disk that you can't read via DOS doesn't translate completely to a sector image is to be expected. If it would translate, you should also be able to read it! So I guess this is normal for self-booting PC disks. But to learn what exactly is on those disks and whether they are really bad or not...

Re: Mitsubishi MF504C-327UW

Tried a different cable, no change.

It's possible I didn't remove the USB connection when changing drives, I don't remember exactly. Damn :-(

Re: Mitsubishi MF504C-327UW

OK, further update: I'm pretty sure the Mitsubishi drive is alright - I just tried it in my DOS machine and it works perfectly there (the other 5.25" drives I mentioned don't). Also working perfectly in my DOS machine: the 3.5" drive I used to dump hundreds of disks, as mentioned above. However, bot...

Re: Mitsubishi MF504C-327UW

No, sorry if I didn't make myself clear: I changed jumpers on other drives, not the Mitsubishi. Sequence of events: 1. Mitsubishi connected, reports maxtrack = 41, able to dump a 360K disk fine. 2. Connect some other drives, these are the ones I changed jumpers on. 3. Mitsubishi reconnected, now rep...

Re: Mitsubishi MF504C-327UW

Yes, I used it to create a working sector image of a 360K PC disk.

Re: Mitsubishi MF504C-327UW

I just got one of these - a MF504C-310MY to be exact. It seems to work alright, but it appears to be a DD drive: "-c2" reports a maxtrack of 41. Is this drive usable for SPS preservation dumps of DD disks? Setting the track distance to 40 gave me a perfectly usable sector image. If so, I could use i...

Re: Drives confirmed working with KryoFlux

Sorry, I'll have to correct myself. None of my 5.25" drives work for dumping. It doesn't seem to be KryoFlux' fault, though. They also refuse to read any disks when installed in my 486 DOS machine. When trying to dump what I think is a standard DOS format disk, different drives either report "No flu...

Re: Drives confirmed working with KryoFlux

Hi everyone, just finished testing all my drives with -c2. Here's the results: 3.5" I have 3 TEAC FD-235HF, all work fine, 1 goes to maxtrack=80, the other two go to maxtrack=81. Also one Epson SMD-300, which goes to maxtrack=83. 5.25" Epson SD-600 Teac FD-55GFR Mitsumi/Newtronics D509 V3 Y-E Data Y...
