"New" unmodified Y-E Data YD-380B here, and seems to be working perfectly with C64 originals. No *T warnings or anything either.

Well, I was lazy and having too much hardware on my hands to repair; the Panasonic wasnt spinning and I figured out the motor might be busted. Instead, I had the opportunity to grab one of those interesting YE DATA YD-380B drives, and hell, it really does work with C64 disks unmodified, maxtrack=83 ...
