Re: 8 inch disks with different sector sizes

Thank you! That worked for me. Just have to figure out how to make these images useful. Apparently its an IBM 33FD Type 1, 303KB image according to Wikipedia.

8 inch disks with different sector sizes

Hi, Got my Kryoflux reading 8 inch disks now. However, the disks I have are interesting. Track 0 is 128 bytes and the other tracks are 512 bytes. Was able to figure that out by looking at the ui for the raw tracks. How do I handle this properly? ./dtc -fimages/disk/disk -i0 -fimages/disk/disk.img -v...

Re: Hard sectored support on Linux

Yes this is also an issue I may run into. I also don't have any Windows machines and I think that it likely wouldn't work well in wine or virtualization. It's also no necessary since we know this code can work in Linux because of earlier releases. I'd like to see a comment from a Kryoflux developer ...

8" disk imaging

So, I have a set of 8" disks for a system with unknown specifications. I don't know the format, the disk size, or anything other than the physical media size. I have a Kryoflux and have made images of 3.5" and 5.25" disks many times but I have never worked with an 8" disk. I have to pick up a drive,...

Re: Retry on unformatted

I thought all 5.25" disks were 360 rpm. I can try and change it tonight and see what happens.

Re: Retry on unformatted

This is the command I use for 40 track disks. All the disks so far report some unreadable tracks but work just fine in the GUI when i create a 40 track profile.

./dtc -fdisk -i0 -i2 -fidisk.img -k2 -v360 -i4 -t500 -l8 -d0

Re: Retry on unformatted

Just an update. I can confirm with the slow firmware.bin it still behaves the same way when reporting unformatted tracks by command line and showing green/good in the GUI. I would be happy to test the newer Linux builds when they are ready. Thank you.
