Re: Are there any 5.25'' floppy drives that are officially supported and which can read "flippy disks"?

It all depends. What kind of stepper motor assembly the drive has, how far the head can be moved, where the head stops and what stops it there, and can that stop be removed.

Re: Installing KryoFlux in Windows 8 / 10

The document does indeed need an update on how to get things up and running on Win 10 as smoothly as possible.

Re: Is my Kryoflux dead?

The yellow area holds the voltage regulators. Blue area just a bit of protection for the input voltage. It really shouldn't get hot over USB. Usually the PC would cut off the USB-port before such extreme voltages could be drawn by the board that would get the two regulators smoking. And those two al...

Re: Kryoflux Floppy Drive + dumping Amiga floppies

Connect the drive, run DTC -c2 or the Calibration from the UI menu. If it says MAXTRACK=83 you're usually good to go.

Re: Is my Kryoflux dead?

The TEST jumper info was relayed from me.

So did that actually bring the board back for a moment?

And what was the reason for the board suddenly becoming fried? Shortcircuit?

Any detailed pics of what components got damaged?

Panasonic JU-475-3/4/5 models Newtronics D509V2/3/5 models Teac FD-55GFR Those I've flippymodded. There was one other I can't remember, tho the accuracy of its mechanism might've been a bit questionable. Panasonic can be modified without expensive tools, but the others require oscilloscope and profe...

Re: Timeout while waiting for device initialization

Just to be sure, the flash erase jumper is not closed? And possible power rail select jumper is on the outer 5V position? If the green led stays permanently on and doesn't fade in and out after the first issued command something is wrong (corrupted firmware file, replace from the original package......

Re: 8" CDC/MPI drive says max track is 41 ??

We have dumped several 8" disks with 77 tracks without any issues, tho that was done via command line only. Can't actually say if the GUI really has some problems doing this as I never use it.

Re: Newbie: Where to start to read with which I have to start with?

KF absolutely requires the index to have accurate count on the track length. Analysing track length from data alone could be erraneous depending what the track contains, and the actual start of a track would be anyones quess.
