Re: Real and Imaginary Disk Editor

Interesting how you've managed to reverse to communication between KF and PC. :)

Re: Dual format ST+Amiga floppies write

Creating those dual format disks is somewhat complicated and you can't really share data between two different filesystems on a "DOS" disk. The important thing is to know that Atari (and PC) have the filesystem descriptors at the first tracks while Amiga has them mostly at the midway of th...

Re: Reading floppies formatted by 2M and 2MGUI

Funny thing that first sector 0 or 1. Seen a few formats the past years that starts with one or the other.

The more KryoFlux is being used, the more some new details of past formats comes up.

Re: How to combine 2 raw dumps from the same disk to patch errors?

Also remember that side 0 is actually the underside/rear and side 1 the top labelside on standard disks. :) Decoding will be different on various tools. Some just count the absolute timing of the bits, others use more "hardware accurate" methods, which can produce better outcome when conve...

Re: help writing bootable Osborne disks from stream files

Try using the GUI to see how the scatter plot of a disk looks like. You should see 3 very clear horizontal lines on the tracks. If there are noise between the lines it could be either a disk that has been written to or the dump is not very good and writing it back can be a hit or miss. Interpreting ...

Re: Is this a normal dump?

Looking at the dump there are two possibilities: 1. Your original drive has had it's stepper motor alignment changed somehow (kind of requires an alignment disk and special hardware to correct). 2. The track 0 sensor alignment has shifted (fairly easy to correct). Now, from what I've seen how atleas...

Re: How to use the Kryoflux system to format a blank floppy disk ?

This works but is a bit fussy on the disk you write it to. Would you mind sharing the secret of doing this .img to .raw folder with us. I would like to give it a bit more reading tolerance if this is possible. This kind of stuff generally entails lots of screwing around with all sorts of tests and ...

Re: How to use the Kryoflux system to format a blank floppy disk ?

Ok, try writing and reading this for starters. As I mentioned earlier, if the drive can't step past 77 tracks the last track will get destroyed at the end of writing, but that likely will not matter in this case.

Re: How to use the Kryoflux system to format a blank floppy disk ?

So I'd like to take you up on your generous offer. Would you mind preparing a raw stream based on the attached file and tell me what happens. Thanks Greg I have a single old CMI dump (can't remember anymore where it came from) and it seems to match your screenshot such that the system really doesn'...

Re: How to use the Kryoflux system to format a blank floppy disk ?

Ok, so you have important disk, but no original hardware and you need some disk in the CMI format to verify your setup and settings are correct. In that case I can prepare you the raw stream to write on a floppy that you can use to test that the read parameters are correct and can atleast detect the...
