Re: Reading MFM disks

Add -z1 before -i4 to set sector size to 256.

Re: Request: Hard-sectored disks (5.25) for test material to KF team

On the side of firmware ROM, about half of the space is used for keyboard routines. From powerup it prints the "QUESTAR/M" message and then waits for the keyboard for 4 different commands, T, C, B, G. It expects 0 to follow B, but can possibly handle other parameters with it aswell (I find Z80 assem...

Re: Request: Hard-sectored disks (5.25) for test material to KF team

So, I downloaded the files and looked at them. I fully agree with ZrX's investigation! But the decoded image files have a different layout. As mentioned earlier, the sectors contain 512 bytes and there are only 8 sectors on each track. Where did you get the images from? They don't look as the are c...

Re: Dumping Eye of the Beholder PC problems (copy protection)?

Try writing with just -w -fname to write back the raw files.

EOTB should be manual protection so writing should work just fine.

Re: Request: Hard-sectored disks (5.25) for test material to KF team

That looks like some ancient hardware.

The system ROMs might reveal how the full disk checksumming works, if there were dumps of the ROMs and knowledge of the CPU architecture.

Re: Request: Hard-sectored disks (5.25) for test material to KF team

After having looked at two Questar disk dumps the format seems as follows: - 2 sides - 80 tracks per side - 16 sectors per track (0-15 on side 0, 16-31 on side 1) - 256 bytes per sector - 300 rpm - MFM sync ...AAAA AAAA AA91 2AAA (bytes 00 00 05 00) - Decoded track format 05 00 TT SS + data*256 + tw...

Re: Amiga / NDOS Problems

Can you upload the raw files of one of the disks some place for us to look at?

There might be some extra data that can't be preserved with normal adf files.

Re: Amiga Floppies ..what am I doing wrong ?

They way writing currently works means ADF written back is fine if there's no copyprotection, but anything in raw that is at some point written on the Amiga will fail due to how Amiga writes on the disk, even if the disk was originally factory pressed.

Re: Write image to disk

DTC -w -frawstreamfile (add option -we2 to the parameters to force wiping the disk before writing if necessary).

Re: Write image to disk

If the disks are written in the original system starting from the index sensor position they can be written back from the raw stream files as is. If the original system doesn't care about the index then it might be possible to use HxC Floppy software to convert the disk image as KryoFlux raw stream ...
