Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Just out of curiosity, what might be a good approach to flux these kinds of disks should I ever got a chance to meet up with a library like that? Just straight preservation format?

Thanks again

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Thanks to all who helped out with this, the solution turns out to be something I did not expect. Having had nothing but trouble with my attempts to write stream files using Kryoflux, I truly appreciate all of the time forum members put into trying to help me overcome my problems. So here is what see...

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Hey David, thanks for that idea. So the DOS floppy is good, and has plenty of data on it. The AT system with the 5.25" floppy attached (non Kryoflux system) reads and writes that data without error. When I am home tonight working with it, I will try using a different floppy drive (maybe the one that...

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Thanks ZrX, I agree that the given description by Pascal from his PPG Waveterm A reading tool did not quite make sense to me, but I chalked it up to not being a floppy expert. The original disks that came with the Waveterm were all HD, and I have been using HD disks since. The drives I am using now ...

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Thanks all for the great advice thus far. Given some of the guidance, I created a freshly formatted DOS 5.25" floppy, copied a file to it, and began working with Kryoflux. Using the GUI, I read the floppy into a set of preservation mode stream files, and immediately attempted to write it back to a b...

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Thanks much Some Guy - I have tried using the TEAC, the Panasonic, the Mitsumi with similar results. But the idea of debugging using 1.2mb disks is a good one. I will give that a try. The disks being used for this are new Maxell 2SHD blanks. The drive on the AT can read and write 1.2MB disks no prob...

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Thanks Brightcaster - The PPG Waveterm A is a self contained unit with main board, CRT and 2 5.25" drives. It's also like 35 years old. The disk in question was written by an old AT class PC using a TEAC 5.25" floppy drive, which seems to read and write standard DOS floppies without problem, but cou...

Re: Errors Attempting To Write Stream Files

Wow, interesting idea. The disk that was uploaded as the example was freshly made, and is in fact correct. I have dozens of other stream file sets that may be in questionable shape. But I wanted to try a read / write cycle with a "known good" disk before I started anything a long-shot as reconstitut...
