Re: recommended vs. working 3.5" and 5.25" diskette drives

Thank you kindly SomeGuy. Alright then, my scope is limited solely to IBM-compatibles (so no GCR is what you're saying). The diskettes I have were all created on generic PC clones from 1991 onward (starting with Intel 80386SX-16 and up from there), using MS-DOS 3.31, DR DOS 6.0, Novell DOS 7.0 and W...

Re: 77-track "Japanese style" disks

On a separate subject, if you know how I can contact this 'John' person I saw mentioned who had been doing calibration, mods, repairs on FDDs, I would like to contact him and pay for my Sony and Teac drives to get done.

Would be well worth doing.

Thanks!

Steve

Re: 77-track "Japanese style" disks

Sorry to hear that. I assume nobody ever investigated. I didn't find anything one way or another that was authoritative. I know, 40 pin source going into 34 pin target. Depends on which pins are needed and what they're used for, though. One thing we know on the 40-pin end device, no need to write to...

Re: Modified 5.25

Wow...hook me up with John. I have a couple Teacs and a Toshiba to send him.
If he does 3.5" also (assume he does) I have a couple Sony drives and an NEC.

Re: 77-track "Japanese style" disks

Can a 40-pin IDE SuperDisk drive be made to work with a KryoFlux using an adapter that converts to 34-pin?

I have one (besides a couple normal 1.44MB 3.5" Sony diskette drives).

recommended vs. working 3.5" and 5.25" diskette drives

Hello everyone, I saw the list of diskette drives shown to work with KryoFlux. There are a lot of them. I wanted to ask a different question since my search on the forums didn't find the appropriate thread. Are there 3.5" and 5.25" drives known to produce better results than others (condition being ...
