Kryoflux has just arrived: FD-235HF Pin/Jumper confusion

Hi, My Kryoflux has arrived today and I want to check its functionality. I am on Linux and on Linux only. Therefore I need to stick with the software of 2015... For the first I will try an easy (?) setup: Kryoflux and one 3.5" flopy drive to read an ATARI ST disk. In the package were (beside some gu...

Transportation of 5.25" floppies (ATARI)

Hi,

at my parents I have a bunch of ATARI800 floppies (5.25"), which I want to transport to
my home via train (no car available, sorry)...which are about 300km.

What would be the best way to do so?

Thank you very much in advance for any help!
Cheers!

Has the support of Linux been stopped?

Hi, I am reading this (https://www.kryoflux.com/?page=download): Windows (Vista through 10, 32 and 64bits) (v3.00, 2018-05-13), includes GUI, now supports hard sectored disks! Mac OS X (10.7 through 10.11) (v2.62, 2016-08-28), includes GUI, fixes problems with USB stack introduced by Apple with OS 1...

Re: Does the Kryoflux firmware support "track shifting"...

Hi SomeGuy, thank you VERY much for clearifying a bunch of technical things for me. In articles on some sites I read, that the index pulse also marks sector 1 and thought that all my data get "shifted" somehow, if I won't hit the right spot with my light barrier. Opening the sleeve of disks, which a...

Re: Newbie: Where to start to read with which I have to start with?

Hi, what's about this: Take a floppy and draw its surroundings (word?) inclusive the middle hole and the index hole onto a sheet of paper. Cut out the drawing so you get a paper mask of the floppy. Flip the 5.25" drive over and center the middle of the floppy mask over the center of the flywheel and...

Re: Newbie: Where to start to read with which I have to start with?

Hi, but one thing is still in my head: I saw a flippy mod instruction on Youtube ... and I am scared. In the FAQ linked above there are given three methods of getting flippy disks being read: 1.) Punch a second index hole into sleeve of the floppy. Scares me, too 2.) Do the flippy mod to your drive....

Re: Newbie: Where to start to read with which I have to start with?

Hi David, Wait...that's too fast for me...I am a newbie in this area...I ordered my Kryoflux just today... ;) :) In turn that would mean: The ATARI 815 (the ATARI 800 single disk station) hasn't checked the index hole at all, since cutting a second write protection notch was enough to use the disks ...
