Re: Bad sector recovery using STREAM files?

What brightcaster said. Is that the same preservation stream image? Yep, same one :) The good news is whatever images that is, since all sectors are there and show green (no CRC errors), you can tell HxC to export that to a 1.44mb image file. I can browse the files on the disk via HxC. I guess I'll...

Re: Bad sector recovery using STREAM files?

Thats very very strange! Is this the same disk as you showed with the first screenshot having the bad sectors on side 1? In this picture everything looks perfect having no sectors bad! David Yep, same disk :) I inspected the surface and found nothing. I was able to load the MFM sector image into th...

Re: Bad sector recovery using STREAM files?

On the HxC track viewer screen, select Disk View Mode and see what it plots. Thanks for the suggestion :) Here is what it looks like in disk view mode : EDIT mr.vince: External links to photos removed. Please store locally. The forum allows for image uploads. unknown-disk-disk-view-mode-800-scaled-...

Re: Bad sector recovery using STREAM files?

Okay side 0 looks great so for me (1,44 Mbyte MFM DOS-Disk as far as I can see). Have you visually inspected side 1 of the floppy surface? Could be spots of mold there. If so try to clean it with a bit of water on a q-tip before you use any isopropanol or similar! You may just open the slider by ha...

Re: Bad sector recovery using STREAM files?

Thanks for the helpful replies! :) The problem is that I don't know what's on this disk, but I had it in a stack of uncategorized important disks so I'm not sure if there's personal information on it or not. Note that a few of the sectors are not bad, as I originally said -- my mistake. Here are the...

Re: Are there any 5.25'' floppy drives that are officially supported and which can read "flippy disks"?

It all depends. What kind of stepper motor assembly the drive has, how far the head can be moved, where the head stops and what stops it there, and can that stop be removed. Well, I don't know the details, unless I can find some type of data sheet and/or service manual. Perhaps I should just purcha...

Bad sector recovery using STREAM files?

I have some 3.5'' 1.44MiB floppies and I can image them fine using the Kryoflux's STREAM file format, but when I try to convert the STREAM files to an MFM sector image, *ALL* the blocks are bad. Without shelling out a few $K to a data recovery service, are there any techniques which one might use to...

Re: Kryoflux & Flippy Drive Request

I know this thread is ancient, but I'm in need of someone whom I can pay to flippy disk mod my Epson SD-600 5.25" 1.2MB floppy drive. Please reply or PM me if you have the time. ( I've searched for services that offer flippy drive modding but I haven't found anything relevant )

Thanks,
