Actually the panasonics give two index pulses (first is 4ms to early) on certain tracks, which confuses HxC but not DTC...

How did you check that? Is that normal behavior or faulty?

By the way, why do you keep calling my Samsung drive Panasonics...

I just checked all the dumps with my own tool and every one of them was nice and clean. No bad sectors or misalignments visible.

The issue is most likely the HxC analyzer making a mistake with the data of those few tracks.
Thanks! Is your tool publicly available?

Re: Random bad sectors when dumping an Amiga disk with Samsung SFD-321B

For me it looks, as if there are certain tracks not perfectly index alligned with the panasonic drives. The HxC analyzer marks them red while dtc still creates valid adfs because it doesn't need them perfectly alligned. Still the teacs don't behave this way and read the index pulses in line. Is the...

Random bad sectors when dumping an Amiga disk with Samsung SFD-321B

Hi I'm dumping an Amiga game called Chip's Challenge. My Samsung SFD-321B /LHSE REV. T6A and SFD-321B /LEB REV. T5 encountered weird bad sectors at different positions in some attempts, while TEAC FD-235HF got good dumps consistently. However, all dumps output ADF images with the same hash. Could so...

Re: Problem with converting 160K PC Booter to img or other formats.

The good news is this disk uses a primitive copy protection scheme. It simply uses mis-numbered sectors. That means the lowest common denominator that can store this software is ImageDisk. (Teledisk, Copy II PC, and Transcopy formats would also work). I PMed you a link with the disk converted to Im...

Re: Problem with converting 160K PC Booter to img or other formats.

A quick google search for this title indicates that it is copy protected. This means a 160k ".img" file will not work, as you loose the copy protection bits. PCE comes with tools for converting Kryoflux streams to other formats that can retain some forms of copy protection. These include .tc (trans...

Problem with converting 160K PC Booter to img or other formats.

Hi. I'm trying to convert the streams files I dumped from the 1982 PC Booter game Executive Suite to img. It's an early 160K 5.25'' disk. The output img file doesn't seem to be working under DOSBox or PCE. The game won't start after the screen shows "Executive Suite loading...". https://i.imgur.com/...

Re: Mistach * Warning on 3.5'' IBM PC Disk

In this case you have encountered an extra mastering information track. Some disk mastering systems write an extra track on track 80 (or 40 for 48tpi disks, and remember this is counting from zero) that contain information such as a the time the disk was written, the name of the software, and the t...

Mistach * Warning on 3.5'' IBM PC Disk

I was dumping the 3.5'' Upgrade Disk for Muzzle Velocity and encountered this error. Does it mean there is data on that sector that was not dumped correctly? By the way, I tried the mount the img image in DOSBox. The files can be copies without any error but I did encounter an error while trying to ...

No flux reversal found

Hi there! I bought a NEC FD1155D recently. It was successfully recognized by DTC. But when I tried to dump a confirmed working disk to test it, the gui showed an error that reads "No flux reversal found". I can't find any info about the error on the forum. Can someone help me here? Thanks in advance...
