Buffering error 8" floppies

I have been experiencing some errors when creating preservation stream files for 8" floppies using a Shugart 851. It seems to work until the last few tracks, usually track 77 and 78. The errors that show up in the GUI read: Buffering error Stream read error Device control command failed Device not c...

Re: 8" Floppies - Help with Disk Format

Would you mind posting or sending me the configuration/settings in HxC for converting the stream files?

Re: 8" Floppies - Help with Disk Format

Thank you! So I had tried to create an MFM and FM sector image with the KryoFlux software, pointing to the stream files, but I ended up with empty files (0 bytes). If the disks' encoding is MFM and FM, then I should be able to do this, correct, even though I would just end up with the raw data? With...

8" Floppies - Help with Disk Format

I've attached a link to stream files for a few 8" floppies. I'm trying to determine their disk format. All I know is they were created on a TRS-80 Model II. The first one had a buffering error but the other two seem to be okay, according to the log files. https://utexas.box.com/s/uu5yfay7qo8b2kx2tje...

Re: Shugart 851 error

There is definitely a disk in the drive, and it is rotating so I think I can rule out the first two reasons. How would I determine whether the cause is due to one of the last three (index line, sensor, or signal)? This is my first go at working with an 8" floppy drive, and I feel like I'm so close t...

Shugart 851 error

I have successfully connected up a refurbished 8" floppy drive, a Shugart 851, to the KryoFlux but when I attempt to create the preservation stream files, I receive a message like this, which I've attached to this post. Can't create stream file The streaming device reported missing index - no disk i...

8" drive for IBM 3274 CU 4240516

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the KryoFlux with an 8" floppy drive for an IBM 3274 Control Unit 4240516? I've attached some pics of the drives if that helps at all.

IBM PC DOS 3.5" disks - parsing files from MFM sector image?

I have a set of 3.5" floppy disks that I created MFM sector images for with the KryoFlux. I can tell the files were created with a Panasonic KX-W1510 Personal Word Processor so the OS seems to be IBM PC DOS. The problem is that although I can read each file on the sector image in a text editor, I ca...

Re: Apple II DOS 5.25 in. floppy disks

Oh, wow, okay! I see Greek letters throughout when I open it in a text editor. I wonder why CiderPress works and not a hex editor or text editor.
