Re: TA ScreenTyper 5.25 in. floppies

I was able to determine that MFM sector images can be opened on a contemporary Mac OS X and files can be copied over to the a file folder or storage device from there.

Re: Apple II DOS 5.25 in. floppy disks

Oh, wow, okay! I see Greek letters throughout when I open it in a text editor. I wonder why CiderPress works and not a hex editor or text editor.

Apple II DOS 5.25 in. floppy disks

I have a bunch of Apple II DOS 5.25 in. floppies, which I was able to get a stream from and convert to an Apple DOS 3.3 sector image. I cannot extract the files, though, and when I try to view the sector image in a text editor, it's full of Greek (I think) characters. Below is a link to download the...

Re: TA ScreenTyper 5.25 in. floppies

I was actually able to open the MFM sector image in a text editor. I can't tell exactly how many files are there but I see coherent text along with some gobbledygook which I assume has to do with formatting. Wow!

Re: TA ScreenTyper 5.25 in. floppies

I was able to convert the streams to an MFM sector image, like you suggested. I'm definitely stuck with determining how to extract the files since I don't have an the system or drive I'd need. Sounds like I may have to give up on these for now. Thanks again, Abby

Re: TA ScreenTyper 5.25 in. floppies

So if I understand this correctly, KryoFlux software cannot convert the stream files to an image I can extract the actual files from with a tool like FTK but I could do this with Supercopy IF I had a native MS-DOS PC (which I don't, not sure how I would find one). Also, I'm unclear as to what you me...

Re: TA ScreenTyper 5.25 in. floppies

Sure, I could upload them to DropBox. You're talking about preservation stream files, right? Thanks, Abby

TA ScreenTyper 5.25 in. floppies

I have several 5.25 in. floppy disks that I believe were created with a Triumph-Adler ScreenTyper computer. I haven't been able to deduce the disk type, though, and have tried all of the KryoFlux image formats. Does anyone happen to know what disk type these floppies could possible be and is it poss...
