Re: AppleDOS write support

If it has already been discussed, I will not resurrect that discussion. I expect your/their solution will be solid, as usual. Actually, I don't care too much about IPF authenticity, because that's of minor importance to us. For day-to-day operation, we need the ability to create custom media for all...

Re: AppleDOS write support

That last suggestion is interesting. It would solve the "who wrote this sh*t?" problem (see MFM thread) as well. Only there should be a way to discern ad-hoc IPFs from true hand-made ones. Maybe add a variant named "IDF" (interchangeable duplication format) or so, which is 99% like IPF, just some ot...

Re: generic MFM (.img) write support

Mr. Vince, if you put it this way, yes, that would be sufficient. Might become a support nightmare for you, but for all I know about the systems we have, it would suffice ;) I've seriously considered the USB floppy thing, but CP/M and Atari ST are more prominent targets than actual MS-DOS. Both use ...

AppleDOS write support

Hi! Just to finish off our wishlist of write support, we'd also love to see Apple support. Our devices range from Apple II (5.25) through all the Macs, so this is a rather large wish, given the multitude of formats. So just in case you were done with all the other wishes people have and are wonderin...

Re: D64 write support?

*Interest* too. Would make creating demo disks tailored for exhibition purposes way easier. Much less hassle than keeping an x1541 cable plus drive around.

generic MFM (.img) write support

Hi! Our Kryoflux drives take up the available drive bays of the archival computer, so we can't add a regular disk drive. It would be cool if we could use the Kryoflux to write the occasional disk image, like for a disk-to-disk copy of plain DOS disks, no copy protection or anything. Also, we'd like ...

Re: KryoFlux - Write support is here and coming to you!

I am a bit frightened to say something. Evertime I say something, some obstacle pops up, something needs to be done somewhere else or someone gets it. I feel it's close, but hey, I've seen it in action. There's not much left to be done, bascially only more or less minor host stuff left. The firmwar...

Re: IPF and Openness

A little evangelization section up front, due to a common misunderstanding: I don't personally support gpl or viral licensing, certainly not for this, and I think it's a bit crap that gpl won't let you use free code that's not under gpl. Gpl has it's downsides any anyone using it would or should hav...

Re: Hard-sectored disks

We may pass through London, depending on RyanAir's willingness to offer decent flights. If they don't, we'll use the tunnel.

Anyways, I don't think it will be that expensive to send a single floppy disk in a padded envelope by mail.
