Ultima II for Apple II protection scheme

Don't know if it is the right place to ask but is anyone able to confirm the copy protection used for Ultima II. Many sources quote Wikipedia which claims it is Spiradisk. But actually all sources refer to the Hackers book. And in that the text is vague but it's about Garriott arguing against Spirad...

Re: POLL: Problems KryoFlux under MacOS

I am not turning this into a politics discussion, but frankly again Apple needs to fix their backend. Nothing political about it. Re: Installing KryoFlux in Windows 8 / 10

I'm sorry but bootcamp is not a plain windows machine! It's emulating a BIOS within an EFI environment for example and it comes up with its own hardware drivers for USB. Over the years, there are several problems with usb ports reported which don't apear with "real" hardware (use google if you don'...

Re: Installing KryoFlux in Windows 8 / 10

No, they pretty much are contend blaming Apple. For now the only option is to use bootcamp or a Virtual Machine with Windows. MrVince, again, bootcamp is just a way to get a regular Windows booting on regular hardware. C'mon inform yourself before you say stuff like this. No bogus stuff and no messi...

Re: Installing KryoFlux in Windows 8 / 10

Just noticed the usual fallacy with bootcamp... Mr.Vince, when you use bootcamp you have a normal Windows with normal access to the hardware. All bootcamp does is prepare the hard drive, hardware drivers and the software that enables touchpad, boot menu. There is nothing emulated, especially in rega...

Re: Installing KryoFlux in Windows 8 / 10

I think the hub thing wasn't the culprit. I'd have to try but probably still the only thing that matters is the steps in the Windows VM ;(
(My hub is a 7port USB3 hub in industrial sturdy metal design. I think no special brand

Re: 3D printed Dual Drive Box

Thanks for explaining, I really wanted to know why and potentially warn you if it were harmful. As you actually understand schematics and I don't I'm glad I brought it up. Now I learnt more about the KryoFlux :)

Re: 3D printed Dual Drive Box

So does it actually power the kryo? Because from the manul it shouldn't (6) Berg power connector to power a drive – or two with y-cable – via the board: You must use standard Berg connectors (also – incor- rectly – referred to as Molex mini) to connect the drive to the board. On the picture above, +...
