Re: kryoflux as a FDC replacement for recent motherboard

Such a feature would be a strong argument pro Kryoflux against competing products. ;)

Re: copy-protected 3,5" DOS Floppies & Kryoflux

Yes, many of those programs detected the protection type and "patched" either the code or the data. OK, but the ancient "CopyIIPC Option Board" ISA card and the related Transcopy software "it simply copies the flux reversals (transitions) on the disk, without a care as to what the data on the disc ...

Re: copy-protected 3,5" DOS Floppies & Kryoflux

Weak bits can't be copied without parameters or modifying the data. That's the reason weak bits are used. the old ISA card "Central Point Deluxe Option Board" with "Transcopy" as software component seems to be able to copy Lemmings with its weak bits copy protection. http://retro.icequake.net/dob/ ...

copy-protected 3,5" DOS Floppies & Kryoflux

Beside of copy protected Commodore games I run into copy issues with the DOS Game "Lemmings" from PSYGNOSIS from 1991. Looks also DOS had it's good copy protection. These comments I've found in the Internet related to the "Lemmings" game from 1991: "To copy Lemmings from original to other disks, Cop...

Re: TEAC FD-55BR

That same stepper is used on the 80 track HD-drives aswell. Let me guess. Your idea is to enable the 80 cylinder mode on this drive? 8-) If this works the TEAC FD-55BR would behave like a 1571 with Shugart interface - a 80 cylinder DD drive with a "40 track head" and a stepping mechanism of 80 trac...

Re: write G64 images back to a disk

I've test it with my original copy protected Uridium floppy. The reading with Kryoflux was fine. uridium.g64 works fine with VICE. I was surprised. But I’ve tried to write uridium.g64 back to several virgin Floppies. Uridium do not start the game on a real hardware. But it starts my Maverick based c...

Re: write G64 images back to a disk

Do you have a G64 image for the write testing? e.g. only a empty disk as G64 image. I have created one with nibread and nibconv. But a verify with Kryoflux write was not possible here because "the mastering info" was missing in this G64 file. Guess these mastering information normally included in -i...
